Company Overview:

Raven Space Systems (Raven) is a venture-backed startup with active government programs and strong commercial momentum, helping revitalize the industrial base by developing breakthroughs in automated manufacturing to build factories of the future and enable the US to compete globally. To meet this critical need, Raven is building breakthrough composite 3D printing smart factories for thermal protection, lightweight structures, and more for aerospace and defense. Our Microwave Assisted Deposition (MAD) innovation unlocks scalable 3D printing of highly tailorable, commercial-off-the-shelf thermoset and ceramic composite materials for the first time. The technology is based on Direct Ink Write (DIW), the most versatile additive manufacturing technology, which utilizes the highest-performance materials. However, DIW has been stuck in the lab for over 20 years due to its inability to 3D print full-scale composite parts. Raven’s MAD 3D printing factories bring DIW to full-scale production of parts and systems. Our technology stack leverages MAD 3D printing, real-time monitoring and controls, and data-driven learning to deploy the most efficient and versatile advanced manufacturing factories. Our mission is to transform composite manufacturing to alleviate critical supply chain bottlenecks and accelerate innovation.

Position Overview:

A Manufacturing Technician at Raven will play a key role in running our first industrial-scale MAD 3D printing factory. You will work hands-on with advanced manufacturing equipment, including composite paste mixing machines, robotic-arm MAD 3D printers, CNC mills and lathes, and inspection systems to deliver high-quality aerospace and defense parts. The ideal candidate will have machining experience and, preferably, a background in aerospace manufacturing or composites. You will be responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly and that parts shipped to customers meet stringent quality standards.

Job Duties:

  • Operate and maintain composite paste mixing machines, MAD 3D printers, CNC mills, and lathes
  • Perform machining, post-processing, and finishing of composite parts
  • Conduct inspections and quality control to ensure parts meet aerospace standards
  • Support setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment
  • Document work performed and report observations to engineering and leadership
  • Assist with shipping, handling, and packaging of parts for customers
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve manufacturing processes
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications (most should be met):

  • 2+ years of machining, manufacturing, or technician experience (aerospace or composites preferred)
  • Experience operating CNC mills/lathes and inspection tools
  • Basic knowledge of 3D printing, composites, or electromechanical systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience (not required & still apply if you don’t meet all of these):

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or composites
  • Familiarity with Direct Ink Write (DIW), extrusion-based 3D printing, or similar technologies
  • Knowledge of resin/composite paste mixing processes (e.g., vacuum centrifugal mixing)
  • Previous experience in startups or small businesses

Why Join Us:

  • Help build a breakthrough composite 3D printing platform with real-world impact
  • Work directly with the founding team to build a next-generation factory from the ground up
  • Be part of a mission-focused team redefining how aerospace systems are designed and built
  • Early-stage equity opportunity with high-growth potential
  • Hands-on work with cutting-edge manufacturing equipment

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay range: $25 - $40/hour
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
  • 401(k) matching
  • Comprehensive family medical, vision, and dental coverage
